Building Description
The Button Factory Lofts is a century old garment shop that was converted into residential lofts in 1996. During the conversion the exterior was unchanged, its simple red-brick exterior fits in perfectly with the surrounding neighbourhood. Unlike other Toronto Loft, the Button Factory Lofts boasts views of the Downtown Skyline and the CN Tower. The two-storey building has only 13 units, this is due to the size of each unit ranging from 1,500 to 2,400 square feet. All the units are designed with an open concept in mind giving a free-flowing feeling to each loft. Some lofts even span multiple storeys creating ceilings as high as 24 feet. The exposed elements of the original building mixed with the modern clean kitchens and bathrooms creates a space that is sleek and cozy, this is only bolstered by the natural lighting created by the large warehouse windows. The Button Factory Lofts are in Little Italy which is west of the downtown core. Little Italy is lined with quiet residential streets away from the bustle of downtown, but still located within walking distance of restaurants and shops on College and Bathurst. The Button Factory is also closely located to Kensington Market Lofts and the Art Gallery of Ontario, both great places to spend an afternoon. Little Italy is great for biking as the area is scattered with one-way streets. TTC bus and streetcar lines are within walking distance and the Bloor subway line is only a few minutes walk north.
