Building Description
Originally constructed in 1910, The Captain French is a grand red brick and timber building. The front façade is covered in tons of black trimmed large windows. The top of the façade features beautiful moulding that adds even more charm to the exterior. The Captain French’s seven storeys are occupied by 21 separate units. These units are distinct from other Vancouver Lofts due to them being originally offered as blank canvases. This allowed the original buyers of the 21 units to have free choice over the layout and feel of their unit. This ensures that no two units feel alike. There are historical constants through out the units however. These include brick walls, high ceilings, and wooden beams. Most units also get to enjoy an incredible view of the mountains out of their windows. Located in the amazing Gastown neighbourhood, residents of The Captain French have all the best attractions of the city at their fingertips. Gastown is chalked full of history with preserved heritage buildings across the neighbourhood. The area also has some of the best restaurants, bars and shops in the city. The ocean and CRAB Park at Portside which is on the water are less than a five-minute walk away. The Captain French’s location is also ideal for all transportation needs. Bus stops are all around in Gastown and just a short walk away is the Waterfront Skytrain Station that can connect travellers to the rest of the Vancouver area. For those who rely of cars for transportation, E Hasting Street and Main Street are minutes away.
