The Workshop is a grand metal clad building that resembles a storage building. The entire building is painted in a blue hue with huge warehouse-style windows across the whole façade. The building was converted in 2000 from an old commercial building. The Workshop was built with commercial standards in mind, and this results in 18-foot ceilings in the building unmatched by any other Vancouver Lofts. The building is home to 34 units across its three storeys. Each unit is at a minimum of 1,000 square feet ensuring that each loft feels massive. Each unit was originally sold as a blank canvas for the residents to design. This results in a different aesthetic for each unit. Homeowners have created cozy environments by adding elements of stone, wood and concrete while other homeowners have opted for a modern clean aesthetic with every surface being a tone of white. Regardless of which unit you get the chance to see, all of them will surely take your breath away. Many of the units offer open concept designs and utilize soaring ceilings with mezzanine style bedrooms overlooking the living space. The Workshop is located in the Strathcona neighbourhood of East Downtown Vancouver. This neighbourhood borders Chinatown and subsequently has amazing attractions to see. Restaurants, shopping, and nightlife can be found all over the neighbourhood. There are also tons of great green spaces and schools nearby perfect for families. The most notable park being Strathcona Park which is a massive green space only ten minutes walk away. The location of The Workshop also means that transportation is made easy. Bus stops on E Hastings Street are great for those without access to cars. Those with cars can also take advantage of E Hasting Street as it serves as a great artery for the city.
